The Syma S107 RC Helicopter is a cute little ‘copter that even a novice remote control user will find easy to use. Given that I’m not really the target market, I actually had a lot of fun flying this around my house as I reviewed it.
The kids of course wanted a go as well (once Hubby got his go of course) and while my five year old tried hard he wasn’t as great at steering it as me and hubby were. Which we were pleased to find out, when it hits a wall it fared just fine. Needless to say he just had to watch after that. (And yes we are aware that he was not in the recommended age group – but try telling your five year old you can’t touch such a fun looking toy).
The flight itself was smooth and seemed easy to control and we were able to fly with some precision (even though I need a few practice tries first).
But for fans of remote control helicopters and the like, I’m sure they’ll have far less learning time that I did and will be able to jump right in.
Age Groups
The manufacturer recommends ages fourteen and up, although I suspect the real target market is boy sin their early twenties and older. There also seems to be a lot of interest in tweaking and ‘modding’ the Syma (and other) helicopters as well.
To see the helicopter in action, here’s a quick vid.
Overall it’s a great little mini heli at a bargain price.
Price
